Place Manifest: Art in the Age of Digital Reproduction

The Pilbara and Kimberley regions cover almost a million square kilometres. They are among the most ancient lands on Earth, rich in flora and fauna and home to around 80,000 people.

Place Manifest presents an exploration of relationships between our dramatic landscapes, the people who live here and digital technology. Digital mediums can create distance between the viewer and the landscape, and they can bring us closer by giving us perspectives we have not seen before.

This exhibition showcases the work of over 25 artists from across the two regions. Each of the artists responded to an open call-out by the City of Karratha to contribute digital prints including artwork reproductions, photography, fabric design, and 3D works.

The artworks in Place Manifest range from epic aerial photography to delicate images of local flora, from paintings reproduced on paper and fabrics to wearable art.

We are proud to present these digitally reproduced depictions of Australia’s North-West at the Red Earth Arts Precinct.
