The artists of Wangaba Roebourne Art Group are proud to present their new show, Wangaba Strong, featuring selected works from this important Aboriginal arts centre.
Wangaba Roebourne Art Group is the longest running arts centre in the City and an artistic treasure for Yirramagadu (Roebourne) and the Pilbara. Wangaba Roebourne Art Group acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Country our art group operates in and on which the Red Earth Arts Precinct is situated, the Ngarluma People.
We have been going through some major transformations including a move to the Ngurin Cultural Centre where we have established the first formal art gallery of Roebourne, giving the area a new modern art facility for the display contemporary Indigenous art, photographs and other artworks. Wangaba Roebourne Art Group exists for local established and emerging artists to enhance their well-being and self-reliance, and to also contribute to inter-generational self-determination through successful Indigenous arts practice. We hope you will discover some of our work artists at REAP and then pay us a visit to see so much more.
Wangaba Roebourne Art Group is open to all Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander artists, as well artisans from all walks of life, who live in and around of Yirramagadu to follow their creative dreams in a safe and inclusive environment where they can learn and develop their artistic skills as a hobby, with a focus on leadership, and recording and transmitting their culture, and cultural stories.
