The City of Karratha presents VAST Horizons, an exciting new exhibition that celebrates the legacy of the City’s VAST Project.
The VAST Project saw more than 30 musicians and visual artists from around Australia come together in the historic town of Bajinhurrbu (Cossack) for a week of creation, recording and collaboration.
VAST was produced by the artistic team of Qynn Beardman, Jae Laffer (from The Panics) and Aimee Chapman. Together they invited some of Australia’s most successful artists to create a series of artworks, songs and events including a concert, an album, a documentary film, exhibitions and community workshops. Artists involved across 2017 – 2018 included locals Josie Alec and Tyson Mowarin as well as Bernard Fanning, Stormie Mills, Olympia, Sally Seltmann, Paul McDermott, Jae Laffer, Kav Temperley and many more.
VAST Horizons is an exhibition of artworks that were made during the VAST Project as well as some exclusive behind the scenes photographs. The VAST documentary will be screened on the opening night and offers guests an intimate look at the artists creating their work during the residencies.
The VAST Horizons opening night also marks the launch of the VAST Trust Artists Support Program, which will support individual artists and extend cultural opportunities in the City of Karratha.
